Director of Merchandising

A jewelry industry leader with a strong Merchandising background to develop and drive profitable product launches that are in line with local and global strategy by keeping the consumer’s demands at the forefront. Reporting to the Head of Merch/Product, this pivotal role will be the voice of authority on driving products and strategies for the brand that are market-specific, competitively priced, and consumer relevant, in collaboration with the sales team and key retail partners. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Responsible for the management of merchandising team to drive the success of all product categories.

·        Manage all product launches to ensure business opportunities are maximized; Lead and drive cross functional teams (including sales, marketing, finance, and operations) to execute launches; Present launches and articulate commercial approach to internal partners; Act as the sales Liaison for launch presentations, aligning sales team budgets with annual product launches and input on forecasting.

·        Define and implement product pricing strategy appropriate to each channel.

·        Spearhead long-range category planning, design and execution based on trends; Create a merchandising flow calendar that identifies key items, trends, and product launches appropriate to the product category.

·        Create a comprehensive key competitor tracking devise to monitor styles and pricing.

·        Assist the training team with the organization and delivery of product trainings and creation of communication tools to distribute to the internal team as well as the channel.

·        Create and optimize product assortments globally.

·        Analyze sales trends and make recommendations for strategic action; Analyze historical sales performances and use to influence future merchandising decisions

·        Foster positive retailer relationships to solicit their feedback and insight as to product needs and consumer reactions to product assortments and items.

·        Key Project Lead on co-branded collaborations and regional product segmentation

·        Travel 30-40% – domestic and international travel as needed to attended shows, events, and to work directly with the Hong Kong offices of Chow Tai Fook + retail visits

Senior Merchandising Manager, Product Category Manager, Merchandising Specialist, Senior Analyst/Planner

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree

·        Eight years plus merchandising or buying experience

·        Success in managing and mentoring teams and direct reports

·        Excellent leadership and partnership skills.

·        Strong analytical and conceptual skills.

·        Ability to be part of a team, set challenging standards, develop strong partnerships, and lead others to action.

·        Knowledge of the jewelry industry

·        Knowledge or experience with the bridal market a plus

·        Ability to communicate product strategies verbally and in writing

·        Systems knowledge Proficiency with Excel and spreadsheet reporting

·        Excellent communication skills
